Galactic is a New Orleans funk band formed in the 1990s, blending funk, jazz, and blues with a rotating cast of guest vocalists and collaborators. The five-piece group — built around the rhythm section of bassist Rob Mercurio and drummer Stanton Moore — has released albums including "Ya-Ka-May" and "Already Ready Already." Their 2025 release "Audience With the Queen" features soul legend Irma Thomas. The band also serves as stewards of the historic New Orleans venue Tipitina's.
