The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra is an 18-piece big band founded in Kansas City in 1935, now directed by trumpeter Scotty Barnhart. The ensemble performs in the swing and blues tradition, built on riff-driven arrangements and cohesive ensemble phrasing. The orchestra has won 19 Grammy Awards, including Best Large Jazz Ensemble in 2024 for "Basie Swings the Blues," and has performed for royalty and at major concert halls worldwide.
