Toubab Krewe is an Asheville, NC instrumental quintet formed in 2005 that fuses West African musical traditions — kora, kamelngoni, djembe — with rock, jam, and psychedelic sounds. Afropop Worldwide credited them with setting "a new standard for fusions of rock 'n' roll and West African music." They have performed at Bonnaroo, High Sierra Music Festival, and Mali's Festival in the Desert, and have collaborated with Last Poets member Umar Bin Hassan.
