Willie Jones III is a New York-based jazz drummer, producer, and educator recognized by the New York Times as an "astute hard-bop drummer." Born in Los Angeles, he studied under NEA Jazz Master Albert "Tootie" Heath at the California Institute of the Arts and spent eight years performing with Roy Hargrove's Quintet. He founded WJ3 Records in 2000 and has been named in DownBeat magazine's Annual Critics Poll consistently since 2015.
